Appendicitis Signs symptoms and treatment
The appendix is a thin tube-like structure attached to
the opening of the esophagus. Foods such as pebbles, fingernails, feces, etc.,
or the swelling of the lymph nodes in the wall of the appendix block the opening
to the colon. As a result, mucus builds
up in the appendix, which fills with bacteria. The resulting pressure causes
the blood supply to its tissues to be disrupted and the tissue to die. This is
called appendicitis. The risk of developing this disease is higher between the
ages of 4-25 years.
